Sebastian McKimm is an Irish theatre-maker and writer based in Vienna. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin [BA (Hons) in English Studies] and the University of Cambridge [MPhil in Film and Screen Studies] and trained as a director and performer with Socìetas in Cesena, Italy, under Chiara Guidi, Claudia Castellucci and Romeo Castellucci. From 2022-2025 he was an Assistant Director at the Burgtheater Wien, where he worked with, among others, Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, Barbara Frey, Dead Centre, Stefan Bachmann and Jan Bosse. In 2024-25 he directed his first German-speaking productions there. As a director he is interested in working with performers across disciplines, in an effort to hybridise and refine performance languages in dialogue with other artists. This work is tethered to a continuing exploration of objects and performative acts whose formal qualities challenge our conceptions of the poetic and investigate the effects of technology on the human sensorium.
